Department of Kayachikitsa was established in 1992. The main emphasize is given on providing proficiency required to play the role of efficient physician and to transform them into a responsible citizen of India. The department has all recommended modern equipment, facilities, infrastructure and aids that are required for teaching and learning.

        Dr. S. G. Deshmukh leads the department as Professor and H.O.D. Senior Prof. Dr. N. R. Nimbalkar plays vital role in various departmental activities. and Dr. Y. A. Vitonde & Dr. A. M. Badarkhe serve the department as Associate Professor while, Dr. H. D. Patel, Dr. P. M. Thakare, Dr. P. R. Pardeshi, Dr. M. P. Pawar are working as Assistant Professor. All faculties in the department are qualified, well experienced and approved by Maharashtra University of Health Science (MUHS), Nashik. Our department runs five and half year ‘Bachelor of Ayurved Medicine & Surgery’ Degree course and three years ‘Doctorate of Medicine’ degree course for Undergraduates and Postgraduates respectively.

        We at our department have a major role to play in clinical practice as physician. Apart from daily OPD & IPD we are regularly engaged in conducting free health checkup & treatment camps in and around the city of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. We have adopted ‘Matoshree Vriddhashram’ an old age home and have taken all the responsibility of the senior citizens residing in the said establishment. Village name ‘Patoda’ adopted by our department has recently received first position in “Pradhanmantri Swaccha Gram Abhiyan”.

        In 2005 we started PG course and since then we are continuously engaged in research activity. Till date 78 students have been awarded with Ayurved Vachaspati degree by MUHS and 18 PG scholars are working actively for the same. In 2017 we started Ph.D. course in our department. Our department has successfully completed two Sponsored Research Projects, one on Diabetes & second on Dyslipidemia.

        Recently one more research project that emphasizes on ‘effect of Musical therapy on insomnia’ is accepted and is being sponsored by MUHS under “Short Term Research Grant for Students” scheme. Department is actively involved in the Teacher - Guardian Scheme of the college. Our eminent faculty members hold key posts in university exams, staff selection committees etc. Recently Principal Dr. J. S. Deshmukh sir has been elected as Faculty Dean of Ayurveda in Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in Nashik.

After completion of Fourth Professional Level of BAMS course the student will be able -

Future Plan

• To Start Basic life support and Advanced cardiac life support programme.
• To organize a national level conference on life style disorders from the perspective of Kayachikitsa.
• To start Post Graduate Diploma courses in various specialties in Kayachikitsa.
• To publish a National Research Journal based on research in Kayachikitsa.
• To establish a competent cell to guide students on various competitive exams for PG courses.
• To develop and propagate a special diet and life style regime for patients of Diabetes Mellitus.
